Thulani Sibisi celebrates his 1986 Two Oceans Marathon win (40th Anniversary) with a Fun Walk on 29th March 2026

Thulani’s win at the 1986 Two Oceans marathon was one of his greatest achievements

But his greatest challenge was yet to come.

Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012, Thulani commented on the impact that the diagnosis had on his life ““my biggest challenge was to accept that I had prostate cancer.”

With the acceptance of his diagnosis came the realisation that something more needs be done, particularly in the black community where levels of awareness about the disease were very low, despite the 60% higher risk that Black African men face with the disease.  Thulani decided that he would use the platform that athletics had given him and joined the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Today is one of South Africa’s most well know prostate cancer survivors, and his passion to educate men about the importance of age and risk appropriate prostate cancer screening is unparalleled.

Join him as he celebrates the 4oth anniversary of his victory at the Two Oceans Marathon.
