We need bowls clubs to suit up in September 2027 to help us raise awareness about prostate cancer
We know that bowls clubs plan their calendar well in advance, so now’s a good time to diarise a Suit Up September Bowls Day for 2027

The Prostate Cancer Foundation is asking all bowls clubs to help us raise awareness about prostate cancer during September which is prostate cancer awareness month.
All that’s required, is for bowler’s to suit up for that day and buy a sticker for R50 from the Prostate Cancer Foundation. It doesn’t have to be a full suit and tie. Participants can feel free to decide how they want to “suit up” for the day. We’ll supply the Suit Up September sticker badges and information leaflets about prostate cancer.
If you have a prostate cancer survivor at your club, who is willing to share a bit about their experience with having being diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer, that can definitely add a personal touch to your event.
Why is it important to raise awareness about prostate cancer?
- Prostate cancer is the most common cancer affecting South African men
- There are usually no symptoms of prostate cancer in the early stages when it is curable.
- Once prostate cancer spreads through the body (metastatic prostate cancer), it is no longer curable and treatment is focused on slowing disease progression.
- Prostate cancer screening is the only way to ensure that the cancer is detected in the early stages when treatment is potentially curable
We know that you plan your events well in advance, which is why we’re asking you to set a date aside in September to raise awareness about prostate cancer.
Suit Up September Stickers are R50 each. Please let us know well in advance when your “Suit Up September bowls day is so that we can courier them to you for your event. We’ll also provide free patient information.
